| Plot Synopsis: In Nancy Myers' Something's Gotta Give, Keanu Reeves steps away from his leading man role to play a supporting role to Diane Keaton's Erica and Jack Nicholson's Harry. Erica is a successful divorced playwright who has closed herself off to the idea of ever experiencing love and romance. You get an idea of how closed off she is when you notice that she wears turtlenecks in the summer! Enter Harry, a record producer who prides himself on not dating anyone over 21. He likes to "travel light." After suffering a heart attack (while in the "act" with Erica's attractive daugher played by Amanda Peet) at Erica's summer house in the Hamptons, Harry finds himself an unwelcome house quest while recuperating. Much to her surpirse, Erica finds herself not only falling in for Harry, but also finds herself desired by Harry's much younger cardiologist, Dr. Julian Mercer (played by Keanu Reeves). The complications and final resolution of the story line provide mature comedy and a look at romance for those who think that love has passed them up. | ||
| Co-Star's Comments: "Keanu Reeves - what a doll. Here's this guy, who's like a god to so many people, who's such a well-raised, respectful gentleman."--Diane Keaton | Keanu's Comments: "For me, trying to do different kinds of roles, it was a wonderful opportunity, really, just to do something different. And of course to work with Jack Nicholson and Diane Keaton, and work with a wonderful, beautiful script directed by Nancy Meyers, it was really for me a dream come true." | |
